National Scenic Area Act regulations for land use and developments are spelled out in the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area Management Plan. Generally, the Gorge Commission reviews proposals for private and state lands and general management areas. The Forest Service reviews proposals for special management areas and federal agencies. Dog Mountain Trail System permits
Permits will be required on weekends from April 26 through June 15 (Saturday and Sunday only) and Monday, May 26 (Memorial Day). Permits will be available online starting March 15; additional batches of permits will be released four days prior to each permit date 10 a.m. EDT (7 a.m. PDT).

Forest Order: Eagle Creek Trail Area
This order prohibits use of areas as a result of the Eagle Creek Fire.

Forest Order 06-22-01-24-05: Occupancy and Use/Camping Restrictions
Starting September 30, 2024, and lasting through September 30, 2027 (unless lifted earlier), camping limits are in place on all National Forest lands managed by the Mt. Hood National Forest, Gifford Pinchot National Forest, and the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area.

Forest Order 06-22-01-24-03: Developed Recreation Site – Aircraft Closure
Starting July 22, 2024, and continuing through July 15, 2026 (unless lifted earlier), there are temporary rules in place that prohibit the use of aircraft, including drones, at specific developed sites on National Forest lands in the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area.

Forest Order 06-22-01-23-02: Wind Mountain Closure
Starting July 18, 2023, and lasting through July 18, 2025 (unless lifted earlier), certain activities are temporarily not allowed in the Wind Mountain area of Skamania County, Washington.

Forest Order 06-22-01-21-14: Overnight Use and Large Boat Launch Prohibition
To protect public safety and natural resources, certain activities are not allowed at the Klickitat Mile One recreation site in the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area, located in Klickitat County, Washington.

Forest Order CRGNSA-2010-02: Cape Horn Trail and Recreation Area
This order prohibits the following acts within the Cape Horn area on the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area.

Forest Order CRGNSA-05-04: Designated Closure of Areas Along Sandy River Delta
This order prohibits entry and usage of the area which is closed along Sandy River Delta for the protection of archeological objects.
